Project: Chemical Release Evaluation

THE PROBLEM:
There was an accidental release of a potentially hazardous chemical at the subject property. The chemical contained substances that were regulated under EPA’s CERCLA list of reportable quantities and EPD’s HSRA list of Notification Concentrations. Immediate action was needed to delineate the contamination and to ascertain whether or not the release was reportable.

THE SOLUTION:
The client needed to ensure that the release was contained and was unable to reach navigable waters, delineate the extent of the contamination, and to find out if the spill was reportable.

THE RESULT:
We wrote a Release Evaluation Report that verified that the state and federal regulations concerning reportable spills were conformed to. All contaminated soil was excavated and placed on a plastic liner to contain the hazardous chemical, preventing it from spreading to other areas. The procedures that were executed confirmed that the chemical concentrations were under the reportable limits
